Covid-19 cases in the United States puts new record of 512,553 daily patients.
Washington: The lightning spreading of the latest Omicron version across the US has brought daily new cases of Covid-19 to a record-setting high of 510,000.
According to the most recent data from Johns Hopkins University, this is the most significant number of cases in a single day since the pandemic’s start in the United States.
The total number of 512,553 new cases and 1,762 death cases were announced across the nation on Monday.
In the last week, more than 1,660,000 new cases and nearly 10,000 deaths have been added to the list, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The average daily rise of cases surpassed 206,000 by Sunday, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
It is also the highest amount since January 18, Xinhua news agency reported.
It is the Omicron type, initially detected late in November in southern Africa and has seen cases to levels that have not been previously seen since the winter of last and has increased the amount of US coronavirus cases to 52.9 million, including more than 89,000 deaths.
The first instance for this Omicron version of the Omicron variant in the US was discovered on December 1.
Since then, this variant has been found across most US states and territories and is quickly increasing the number of cases of Covid-19 that it is creating.
According to the latest data released on Tuesday by CDC, the Omicron variant is estimated to comprise 58.6 percent of the coronavirus variants that were circulating in the US in the week ending December 25.
The Omicron surge has led to more cancellations for travel or sports and other activities across the country.
In some states, hospitalizations have reached an increase during the Omicron growth. As a result, more children admitted to hospitals with Covid-19 are also increasing.
The cases of Covid-19 among US kids are “extremely significant and growing,” according to a recent report from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) as well as The Children’s Hospital Association.
More than 7.5 million kids have been tested positive for Covid-19 since the outbreak of the disease in the US, which is 1/10 of American children.
For the week that ended December 23, almost 199,000 child Covid-19 were reported, which is a 50% increase from the weekly number of cases reported at the first week of December.
This was the 20th week in a row of that child Covid-19 cases above 100,000.
According to the AAP, there have been more than 2.5 million more child cases since the start of September.
As a result, COVID-19 testing centers all over the US have experienced a record-breaking demand because of the increase in the number of new infections.
