Donald Trump privately said he could announce the 2024 presidential bid early

According to CBS News, former President Donald Trump has recently confided in friends and staff members that he is seriously thinking about declaring his candidacy for president in 2024 as early as this summer.

The New York Times was the first to report on Trump’s most recent efforts to make a political return and a likely summer launch of another presidential candidacy.

Even as he gets closer to running in 2024, Trump’s plans are still finalized.

According to three individuals close to Trump who asked to remain anonymous to discuss specifics of private talks, no decision has been taken over whether to run and, if so, when to begin such a campaign.

On Sunday, Trump’s spokespeople did not immediately answer a request for a response.

However, Republican supporters of Trump and former White House and campaign officials told CBS News that they think Trump may run for president again shortly.

Last month, the former president relocated seasonally to Bedminster, New Jersey, leaving his property at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

According to many individuals who have recently talked to Trump, he and a select number of his top aides are now planning several strategies for Trump to declare a 2024 campaign, whether it happens this summer or after this year’s midterm elections.

Major party presidential candidates often hold off on beginning their campaigns until long after the November elections.

So a Trump launch before the November elections might change both parties’ campaigning plans.

Republicans had intended to emphasize the economy this year, notably the soaring inflation that is placing financial strain on households throughout the country.

Trump’s early entrance into the race might lead other contenders to concentrate instead on the fictitious allegations of election fraud during the 2020 election, which has been the former president’s continuous refrain since he lost the election to Joe Biden.

According to some Republican strategists, a pre-midterm admission would aid Democrats in turning the 2022 election into a vote on Trump.

However, a few Trump allies are still dubious about the possibility of the former president openly announcing his candidacy shortly.

One former top campaign staffer recalled the start of Trump’s 2016 campaign and said he wouldn’t believe it was real until he rode the escalator at Trump Tower in New York one more.

Others who are close to Trump claim that his rage at the publicly broadcast House committee hearings on January 6 motivates him to run again and may prompt him to make an announcement shortly.

According to several of his close associates, Trump is said to feel that Republicans are not adequately defending him and that he alone is in the most excellent position to do so.
