White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tested Covid-19 positive.

Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House Deputy Press Secretary, stated that she had tested positive for Covid-19 while on a trip to Europe with US President Joe Biden, but that she was not in close touch with him.

She added in a statement from the White House, “I last met the President during a socially separated meeting yesterday. Fortunately, the President has not considered a close contact as defined by CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidance.”

It was unclear when Biden’s last negative test took place.

Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, tested positive for the coronavirus last week.

Jean-Pierre stated she had been vaccinated and was only having minor symptoms. As per White House practice, she would return to work in person following a five-day isolation period and a negative test.
