Governor of Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his position. By shocking everyone, BJP President JP Nadda declared the name of West Bengal Governor as his contender in the vice presidential election.
After that, he tendered his resignation as governor of Bengal yesterday. Today, Dhankhar will present his candidacy for vice president. Sources claim that the governor of a nearby state would temporarily take over the governor of West Bengal.
Former MP Dhankhar, a lawyer by trade, took over as governor of West Bengal in August 2019.
The Central Government appointed Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to the Raj Bhavan after his term as governor.

But once Dhankhar assumed leadership, it was evident that Raj Bhavan and Mamata Banerjee’s administration were at odds over several matters.
Then-cabinet minister, former BJP president, and longtime lawmaker M. Venkaiah Naidu was named BJP’s vice presidential candidate in 2017. Naidu won the election to occupy the second-highest constitutional position in the nation. August 10 marks the conclusion of his tenure.
