On Monday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan slammed the Congress, calling it a “system that leads people to the Bharatiya Janata Party.”
Mr Vijayan, speaking at a public forum in the Thrikkakara Assembly seat during the by-poll campaign, stated, “The Republican Party as a whole is suffering a severe blow throughout the nation. The Congress is becoming a mechanism that funnels voters to the BJP.”
In response to Sunil Jakhar’s resignation and Hardik Patel’s withdrawal from the Congress, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan claimed that some former members of the party had joined the BJP to become Union Ministers and Members of Parliament.

Former Punjab Congress chairman Sunil Jakhar and former Gujarat Pradesh Congress Working President Hardik Patel departed the grand old party on the same day.
Mr Jakhar has joined the BJP, but Mr Patel is still undecided. Both were harsh in their criticisms of the party and its leadership.
“The whole Congress seems to be imploding. Those who are members of the Kerala front headed by such a party are worried “Navjot Singh Sidhu, the former Punjab Congress chief was arrested, he continued.
The assembly seat of Thrikkakara will have by-elections on May 31.
