Aparna Yadav, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav’s wife, will
join the BJP this morning as an influential BJP leader announced on Tuesday evening.
If it occurs, the switch of Ms. Yadav’s to the BJP will be a significant loss for the Samajwadi
Party just weeks ahead of the state election.
It is being interpreted as a tactic to tit-for-tat after last week’s defeat to the ruling party,
with the resignation of three UP ministers and several MLAs joining the forces of Akhilesh
Yadav Haryana BJP director Arun Yadav, on Tuesday night posted on Twitter with the
following message in Hindi: “Aparna Yadav, the wife of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger son
Pratik will join BJP tomorrow in the presence of Yogi Adityanath at 10 am.”
In the critical UP elections, Akhilesh Yadav Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son has emerged as the
leading contender against the incumbent BJP.
He also has the support of several opposition parties, including Mamata Banerjee’s
Trinamool Congress and Sharad Pawar’s NCP.
They are creating an anti-BJP front in the run-up to 2024’s Lok Sabha elections 2024.
The speculation of his sister-in-law Aparna Yadav joining his rival party comes just a few
days from when the Yogi Adityanath administration saw numerous departures.
The trio of ex- UP Ministers embraced by Akhilesh Yadav, the political party leader, include
Swami Prasad Maurya, Dharam Singh Saini, and Dara Singh Chauhan.
Vinay Shakya, Roshan Lal Verma, Mukesh Verma, and Bhagwati Sagar were among the
MLAs who followed the same path after their departure.
NDTV tried to contact Ms. Yadav to confirm the news. A WhatsApp message has been read,
but she has not responded.
The politician of the young generation ran in the state election in 2017 in Lucknow Cantt on
a Samajwadi Party ticket, finishing second behind Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who had left the
Congress and joined the BJP.
Aparna has an organization known as bAware dedicated to women’s rights and provides a
home to cows located in Lucknow.
The lady Yadav has been on the news-times in the past for her praise of Modi’s
“development initiatives.
UP is voting in 7 phases, between February 10 to March 7.
The results will be announced on the 10th of March.
