Nagaland firing incident

Nagaland firing incident:Amit Shah will make a statement to Parliament about the Nagaland firing incident.

Today, the Union home minister Amit Shah will make a statement in both Houses on the Nagaland shooting incident in which at most 14 civilians were killed.

Shah will speak in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha today after the Opposition leaders issued adjournment notices to discuss the killing of civilians within the Mon district in Nagaland.

Manickam Tagore, Congress MP, moved Lok Sabha to an adjournment motion to discuss the incident. Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha issued a suspension of business notice “to discuss matters related to the murder of innocent civilians of Nagaland.”

Shah expressed his sorrow over the incident on Saturday and offered condolences to the victims’ families.

The government has yet to make a statement about the failed anti-insurgency operation in which security forces killed civilians. Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader, said that the central government should give a “real response” to the “heart-wrenching incident” after reports of the killings surfaced on Sunday morning.

Gandhi posted on Twitter, “What exactly is the home ministry doing when neither civils nor security personnel can be safe in our own country?”

Trinamool Congress’s 5-member delegation will be visiting Nagaland today to visit the families of those who have lost loved ones.
