Abhishek Bachchan Reveals that Rishi Kapoor used to Spy on Ranbir Kapoor Using a Gossip Blog

The late veteran actor Rishi Kapoor had no qualms about openly expressing to the media that he was not close to his son Ranbir Kapoor as he should have been. He had said that there was no friendship between the two due to his relationship with his father and legendary actor Raj Kapoor. Ranbir had also spoken about his strained relationship with his father in his previous interviews. And while there was certainly a huge communication gap between the two, Abhishek Bachchan has now revealed that Rishi Kapoor used to follow a gossip website to see what his son Ranbir was up to. Abhishek, who has worked with Rishi Kapoor on Delhi 6 and All Is Well, said that when they were filming in Shimla, he had found Kapoor sitting at a computer in his room. “I walked into the room and he was on his lung, he had these little glasses and he was on his computer. I found this image very cute from behind,” she told Film Companion in an interview. When Abhishek asked Kapoor what he was doing, he discovered that the veteran actor was reading a celebrity gossip website to keep up with Ranbir. “The only way I can know what Ranbir is doing,” Kapoor said. “And I was like, ‘This guy, he’s amazing! He had no filter. He was just saying it.’ So he was following (the website) to find out what Ranbir was doing. I found it so sweet,” Abhishek added. During his early days in Bollywood, Ranbir surprised everyone when he revealed that he was closer to his mother, Neetu Kapoor, than to his father. He has said that Rishi Kapoor had modeled his relationship with him in the same way that the veteran actor had shared one with his father, legendary actor and director Raj Kapoor.

Rishi Kapoor was very upset when Ranbir decided to leave his family and move in with his then-girlfriend Katrina Kaif. And it was this time when the first opened up about his equation with Ranbir. He also expressed regret for not being friends with Ranbir.

Over time, the gap between father and son narrowed, and the two had grown closer after Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer in September 2018. By that time, Rishi had also recognized Ranbir’s relationship with Alia Bhatt.
