Americans Agree Disinformation Is A Problem.
WASHINGTON – Almost all Americans agree that the rampant dissemination of misinformation is a problem. Most also think that individual users, along with social media companies, are to blame for the situation.
But relatively few are very concerned that they themselves may be responsible. That’s according to a new poll from the Pearson Institute and the Associated Press-NORC Public Affairs Research Center.
Ninety-five percent of Americans identified misinformation as a problem. About half blame the US government heavily, and about three-quarters target social media users and tech companies.
Only 2 in 10 Americans say they are very concerned about spreading misinformation personally, although about 3 in 10 say they are somewhat concerned.
