Don’t have your Voter Photo ID or EPIC or Voter ID? Here is a list of documents where a voter can use photo proof of identity to cast their vote.
The election for 44 seats in the fourth phase of the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections will take place on Saturday, April 1.
The state, where voting takes place in eight phases, has already gone through three phases of voting for 91 seats held on March 27, April 1, and April 6.
Voting for the remaining 159 seats in West Bengal will take place in four phases on April 17, April 22, April 26, and April 29.
Voting for Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Assembly elections also took place in a single phase on April 6, alongside the third and final phase of the 2021 Assam Assembly elections.
Votes will be counted on May 2.
Each voter is required to carry a voter ballot (downloadable online from nvsp.in) along with their voter identification card (also known as a Voter Photo Identity Card or EPIC or Voter Identification Card) issued by the Election Commission of India (EC).
But what if you don’t have your voter identification card? Is there a document that can act as a substitute?
Here is a list of documents that voters can use in place of a voter identification card as proof of identity with a photo to cast their vote:
1. Passport
2. Driving license
3. Service identity card of the state or central government
4. PAN card
5. Aadhar card
6. Book issued by bank or post office
7. MGNREGA work card
8. Medical insurance card issued by the Ministry of Labor.
9. Pension document with photograph
10. Voter’s ballot with authenticated photograph issued by the Electoral Commission
11. Stock companies
12. Booklets issued by banks or post offices
13. Pension document with photograph and identity card issued to MP, MLA, and MLC.
