Baba Ramdev Lashes Out at Patanjali's Coronil Kit Critics, Says 'Not Committed Any Crime'

New Delhi: After facing a backlash for releasing the Coronil kit and claiming it is the cure for COVID-19 disease, Patanjali founder Baba Ramdev criticized critics and asked if it was a crime to work in Yoga and Ayurveda. He also said that all the required documents have been presented to the AYUSH Ministry.

“People started talking things like Patanjali failed, made a U-turn, and many people tried to put in the angle of my cast, religion, my ‘sanyas’ and create a restless environment. It seems like working in the field of yoga and Ayurveda is a crime in India. FIRs were filed against me in various places in the same way that they are against some criminal or terrorist. People started to make headlines as Ramdev will go to jail. ” RepublicWorld.com Ramdev quoted saying.

“Acharya Balkrishna and I have provided services worldwide for the past 35 years and we are ordinary people who have promoted Yoga and Ayurveda. Some people don’t like this. If you have a problem with me, abuse me, we are proof of gaali, but think of people infected with coronavirus and other diseases such as cancer, arthritis, etc. We have helped these people, “he added.

Previously, Rajasthan police had filed an FIR against yoga guru Ramdev for allegedly launching an Ayurvedic drug that claimed to cure COVID-19 without obtaining approval from the AYUSH ministry.

Four other MDs from Patanjali Ayurved Acharya Balkrishna promoted by Ramdev; Director of the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMS), Jaipur, BS Tomar; her son Anurag Tomar; and Chief Scientist Anurag Varshney were appointed to the FIR.

Haridwar-based Patanjali Ayurved released “Coronil” last week, claiming it can cure COVID-19. He said the drug, when taken with another Patanjali product, had cured all coronavirus-positive patients who participated in a trial within seven days.

The trial, he said, was conducted in association with NIMS, a private institute based in Jaipur.

Hours after the drug was launched, the AYUSH ministry asked Patanjali Ayurved to provide details about the investigation that led to it and its composition, and told the company to stop advertising it until the problem was examined.
