Biden Condemns Attack On Ukraine. 

Washington, United States: US president Joe Biden said that the “world will be holding Russia accountable” for its aggression against Ukraine. He warned that it could result in “catastrophic loss of lives.”

In a statement released shortly in the aftermath of the Russian president Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of an operation to defend Ukraine, Biden said that he will speak to the US public on Thursday, laying out his “consequences” to Russia in the wake of the attack, calling it “unprovoked and inexplicably unjustified.”

It was reported that the US president was scheduled to be in a virtual closed-doors gathering of G7 leaders, which includes Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States — at 9:00 am (1400 GMT) Thursday. 

According to the White House, his remarks to the public would be at the beginning of the afternoon in Washington.

On Tuesday, The US administration was joined by European Allies to impose sanctions against two Russian banks and Moscow’s sovereign debt, various oligarchs, and other measures.

The day before, Biden announced he was positioning sanctions against Nord Stream 2. 

Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline runs from Russia into Germany -one of Moscow’s most energy-rich and most well-known geopolitical and energy projects. 

Germany had previously announced that it would stop the pipeline from moving forward.

US officials warned that any increase in tensions between the US and Russia in Ukraine that is now taking place would be met with more severe sanctions. 

Therefore, it could hit the largest banks’ oligarchs and halt exports of technologically advanced equipment.

“The prayers of all the globe are for the Ukrainian people Ukraine today as they endure an unprovoked and unjustified assault of Russian militarists. 

Unfortunately, President Putin has decided to launch an unplanned war that will cause a massive loss of human life and pain,” Biden said.
