The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in advance of the Assembly election in 5 states Chhattisgarh the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, on Monday, said the saffron party would be contesting elections alongside other agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.
He also questioned If wipe out all black money in demonetisation, then where will it come from.
Baghel’s announcement comes following a significant political dispute recently broken out in the Congress-ruled Punjab in which authorities from the Enforcement Directorate are conducting raids to stop illegal mining operations for sand within the state.
As part of the investigation, the ED has raided the home of the chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s uncle and taken a few of his associates to custody.
Congress has expressed its displeasure regarding the latest raids and seizures of millions of dollars and claiming it was an act of political revenge in the lead-up to elections.
In a scathing attack at the Centre, Channi had said that the raids were part of the BJP government to retaliate against the government for the mess that occurred during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab.
‘BJP fights polls using Central agencies’: Bhupesh Baghel.
In the past week in the last week, one week ago, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister also made the same claim against the BJP in which he claimed it is contesting elections using the assistance of Central investigative agencies similar to those of the Pakistan cricket team, which has umpires for the matches.
“Whenever elections are around, there are raids in Opposition-ruled states.
Why no raids at the UP chief minister’s relative’s house or Uttarakhand, Goa? Like it’s said about Pakistan, not 11 but 13 players play the game, including the umpires, same way BJP fights polls with (the help of) Central agencies,” Baghel had stated.
