In its most recent list of 17 candidates to run in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly
polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the former ED jointly director
Rajeshwar Singh from Sarojini Nagar.
The BJP has turned down the tickets of Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit and women
welfare minister Swati Singh from Sarojini Nagar.
It is reported that the BJP is fielding state law Secretary Brajesh Pathak, who hails from
Lucknow Cantt.
At the same time, Ashutosh Shukla is offered a ticket to the Bhagwantnagar Assembly
constituency.
Congress MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who earlier had demanded a ticket for her son Mayank
Joshi from the Lucknow Cantt seat has said, “I respect the party’s decision.”
Neeraj Bora will compete for Lucknow North, and Chitrakoot gave Chandrika Prasad
Upadhyay an entry ticket.
The former ED Joint Director and current BJP chief Rajeshwar Singh told ANI on Tuesday
that he will improve governance and continue his fight against mafias.
ON MONDAY, the BJP made his announcement from his Sarojini Nagar assembly
constituency for the coming UP elections.
Singh Singh told ANI, “We`ll contribute to the governance process and also to the
investigation initiated by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Singh is doing a great job
against mafias. We must be supportive of his efforts. Additionally, we must stop the rise of
communalism,” saying, “I will continue to promote the BJP’s philosophy of working towards
the future of the nation.”
Concerning the concerns raised about Singh receiving the BJP’s nomination the same day
he resigned from the Government of India, he declared, “There is no question of patronage
from the political establishment. BJP is a major party. Tickets are distributed following
merit.”
In his letter of announcement VRS, Singh had mentioned that “during his time as ED the
department, he discovered and investigated various scams that had national implications
and significance for the public.”
