MELBOURNE: Ash Barty eased into the third round of the Australian Open with the minimum of stress on Wednesday, beating Italian qualified Lucia Bronzetti 6-1 6-1 on Rod Laver Arena.
The top seed hit 11 winners to win her first match in just 25 minutes. She was also dominant in the second set, securing the win in less than an hour after her opponent threw in the backhand.

Bronzetti, world number 142, could not get a breakpoint during the game when she was pounded by the Wimbledon tennis champion hit, cut, and smashed her to submission under the hot Melbourne sunlight.
Barty hopes to end Australia’s long wait for a homegrown female champion is next up against the next Italian to face Camila Giorgi, with reigning champion Naomi Osaka potentially waiting in the fourth round.
