New Coronavirus XE Variant In India

The Health Ministry says genomic experts at INSACOG have looked at the FastQ files for the sample that is said to be #XEVariant very closely.

The person who tested positive for #XEVariant is a fully vaccinated 50-year-old woman who has no other health problems and is not sick.

There were 230 samples of COVID genome sequencing done in Mumbai, and one out of them had the XE variant in it.

XE, a new COVID mutation, has been found in the UK. The World Health Organization said it might be more spreadable than the BA.2 sublineage of COVID-19 found in the United Kingdom.

However, the virologists in India say that it isn’t clear if the variant is strong enough to cause another COVID wave in the country, even though they say that people should be careful and act in a COVID-like way.
