BJP to send a team to Bengal after 8 die

There was alleged political violence in Bengal’s Birbhum, and eight people died. The Center wants to know about it and wants to see the report.

The BJP is also dispatching a fact-finding team to investigate the most severe violence incident since Mamata Banerjee’s election victory last year.

Here are the essential parts of this big story:

  • On Tuesday, a mob allegedly threw bombs in Bogtui village on the outskirts of Rampurhat town, setting fire to ten houses. It is suspected to be retaliation for the murder of Bhadu Sheikh, a Trinamool Congress panchayat leader whose body was discovered on Monday.
  • Burned bodies were found this morning in a house. Two of them were children. On the way to the hospital, a ninth person died. In the state police report, 11 people have been arrested for participating in the violence.
  • A Special Investigation Team has been set up to look into the matter. This is how it works: Indian police chief Manoj Malaviya said, “We are trying to figure out how the fire started and if it has anything to do with the death of the deputy chief of a nearby village.”

  • There are two members of the Trinamool Congress on their way to Rampurhat to look into the issue. State Minister Firhad Hakim is in charge of them. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer and the Circle Inspector of Rampurhat have been fired.
  • They met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday and asked for his help. A fact-finding team led by BJP chief JP Nadda has been set up, and state party chief Sukanta Majumdar will be part of the group. The team has four former police officers on it.
  • The Trinamool Congress has said that it was not involved in the violence. A party spokesman named Kunal Ghosh “We are very sorry for the people who died in a fire that was started by accident. Our party leader was killed last night. “In this case, I would say
  • People who have been at odds with each other for a long time have fought over this. “Horrifying violence and arson” is what Mr. Dhankhar called the incident. “It’s a sign that law and order in the state are going downhill.”
  • Ms. Banerjee sent a letter back to the person who made fun of her. “It is highly inappropriate to make broad and uncalled for statements instead of paving the way for an impartial investigation,” she wrote and asked the Governor not to make “unwarranted statements.”
  • The issue caused a stir in the state assembly, where BJP members asked for a statement from the Chief Minister in front of the whole house. Twenty-two BJP lawmakers walked out, and party leader Suvendu Adhikari, in a series of tweets, asked the government to help.
  • An MP for the Congress party, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, said that in West Bengal, women and children are being burned alive.
