India lost its first wicket on Day 3 in a strange way, as Cheteshwar Pujara’s bat got stuck on the field and he was unable to return to his fold in time.

Playing a quick move from Moeen Ali to the side of the leg, Pujara found Ollie Pope on the short leg, who quickly threw the ball to Ben Foakes behind the stumps to attempt an exit.

Pujara rushed back and seemed to be making his ground safe, but ended up dropping his bat. With his right foot in the air, Foakes removed his bails.

Wickets continued to fall in the second Test between India and England in Chennai, with the hosts losing their entire batting lineup after Pujara’s wicket in the morning session. Ravichandran Ashwin and Virat Kohli combined to form a partnership that extended India’s lead beyond 300 before the lunch break.
