COVID-19 report is needed to attend matches in Wankhede in IPL 2021

The Mumbai Cricket Association has asked its Apex Council members to submit a negative COVID-19 certificate to enter the Wankhede Stadium, which will host 10 matches of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.

The first game at the iconic South Mumbai stadium will take place on Saturday night when the Chennai Super Kings take on the Delhi Capitals led by Rishabh Pant.

“Dear Apex Council Members. According to BCCI protocol, all officials who will attend IPL 2021 matches at Wankhede Stadium must submit a negative report of the RT-PCR test performed within 48 hours after the day, ”wrote the secretary of the MCA, Sanjay Naik, in a note to all members.

“The tests are mandatory even for those who have been vaccinated. The report must be produced at the time of entry to the stadium on each match day.

“Therefore, you are asked to take the test at the end and bring the negative report to the stadium on the day of the game.”

In the run-up to the IPL, 10 outfielders at Wankhede Stadium had tested positive for COVID, but most of them later tested negative.

Then two more gardeners and a plumber tested positive for COVID-19.

Maharashtra and its capital Mumbai are hit hardest by infectious disease and the state government has imposed a weekend shutdown.

Mumbai’s COVID-19 case count has crossed the five lakh mark with 9,200 new cases on Friday, while the death toll rose to 11,909 when 35 patients died.
