Election Commission responsible for spreading Covid-19

Election Commission responsible for spreading Covid-19: Madras HC.

The Madras High Court said on Monday that the Election Commission of India (ECI) is solely responsible for spreading Covid-19 and that murder charges should probably be brought against him for his “irresponsible” behavior.

Criticizing ICE for failing to prevent political parties from violating Covid protocols, the First Bank of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Judge Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy said: “You (ECI) are the only institution responsible for the situation in the that we meet today “.

“You have singularly lacked any kind of exercise of authority. It has not taken action against political parties holding rallies despite every order from this court that says ‘keep the Covid protocol, keep the Covid protocol,’ ”the court said, asking if the polling station’s watchdog“ was in another planet when the rallies were held ”.

Chief Justice Banerjee and Judge Ramamoorthy were listening to a petition filed by the Minister of State Transport, MR Vijayabhaskar, asking the ECI for instructions to follow certain measures during the vote count on May 2 in their Karur constituency, where 77 candidates had been presented.

Reminding ECI’s attorney that it is now about “survival and protection” and that “everything else comes later,” the court further said it would issue orders to stop counting if ECI does not prepare a plan by May 2 on how Covid protocols will be maintained during the process. This must be done to ensure that “this state no longer succumbs to its idiosyncrasies,” said the HC.

He added: “Political or non-political, whether the counting is carried out in a staggered or deferred manner… At no cost, the vote recount on May 2 turns out to be a catalyst for a further increase. Public health is of the utmost importance and it is worrying that constitutional authorities have to be reminded in this regard.”

Mamata welcomes the order of Madras HC, demands the withdrawal of the central forces that may be infected with Covid

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday demanded the withdrawal of central forces to contain the spread of Covid in West Bengal in the next phase of the vote while welcoming the observations of the Madras High Court that the Electoral Commission could not avoid blame for the spread of Covid.

“I welcome the order of the Madras High Court, which clearly says that the EC cannot escape its responsibility. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and EC are responsible for the (current) situation (of the spread of Covid in the state), ”Banerjee alleged at a workers’ meeting in the north of Kolkata, where the party’s candidates and the workers.
