Everton could be forced to sell Jordan Pickford amid Tottenham links

Tottenham could well be in a stronger position to revisit their interest in Jordan Pickford this summer, with the Telegraph report Everton could well sell the England stopper.

EU sanctions on Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov have left Everton with some doubts about key finances ahead of the summer. And next to that, The Telegraph reports how a number of key players could be sold.

Among them is the number one goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford. The £30m stoppers has been the main man at Everton since he arrived from Sunderlands in 2017. However, it could now be sold to raise funds for Frank Lampard.

This news, of course, could spark Tottenham’s interest. It was only in December that the Spurs were linked with a move for Pickford, with Londoners keen to secure a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.

Spurs have kept Lloris for now, but they are unlikely to sign Pierluigi Gollini permanently. The Italian has had problems at the club since he arrived and Tottenham will almost certainly look for an alternative.

It seems like Jordan Pickford has been around forever, but he’s still only 27 years old and for a goalie, that’s a prime age for someone to catch you.

Tottenham needs that long-term replacement for Lloris and Pickford is about as ready as it gets. The Premier League and international experience are on the bench and could thrive with a new move.

The Spurs are in for a big overhaul this summer. And a new plug could be as important as anything else. In fact, you only have to look at City and Liverpool to see the difference a quality goalkeeper makes.
