Gladys Knight is a singer, composer, actor, entrepreneur, and author from the United States and she is a seven-time Grammy Award-winner who is most known for her songs with her group The Pips in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, which featured her brother Merald “Bubba” Knight and cousins William Guest and Edward Patten.
Gladys has two No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 songs (“Midnight Train to Georgia” and “That’s What Friends Are For”), eleven No. 1 R&B singles, and six No. 1 R&B albums to her credit.
She is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and has won seven Grammy Awards (four as a solo artist and three with the Pips).
Two of her songs were elected into the Grammy Hall of Fame for their “historical, creative, and important” significance (“I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and “Midnight Train to Georgia”).
