Indian veteran Harbhajan Singh apologized unconditionally on Monday for a social media post in which he shared a photo of Khalistani militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale to pay tribute to those killed in 1984’s ‘Operation Bluestar’ (More cricket news) .

The 40-year-old said he posted a WhatsApp message on the 37th anniversary of the operation without realizing that the man in the picture was Bhindranwale.

“I just want to clarify and apologize for an Instagram post yesterday. It was a WhatsApp forwarding that I posted hastily and without even realizing the content used and what it meant and represented,” he said in an apology note posted on Twitter. .

“That was my mistake, I accept it, and at no time do I endorse the opinions in that post or support the people whose image was published. I am a Sikh who will fight for India and not against India.”

“This is my unconditional apology for hurting the feelings of my nation. In fact, any anti-national group against my people, I do not support it and I never will,” he added.

Operation Bluestar was an Army operation that was carried out in 1984 to drive the militants out of the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Bhindranwale was the leader of that insurgent movement and was killed along with other people during the operation.
“I have given my blood and sweat for this country for 20 years and I will never support anything that is anti-India,” Harbhajan said.
