SA players have chosen the IPL over the national team

South Africa has left out the IPL-bound players from their 15-man Test squad for the two-match home series against Bangladesh that starts on March 31 and lasts two weeks.

South Africa will be without their entire first-choice pace attack of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Marco Jansen in the Test series. Batters Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen will also be absent, as they chose the IPL over the Test series.

There was a “litmus test of loyalty” that Test captain Dean Elgar had called. Cricket South Africa said it would be up to the players to decide whether to play in the IPL or the series.

The middle-order batsman, Khaya Zondo, got his first test call-up and didn’t get a cap quickly. Another member of the team, Daryn Dupavillon, also cut.

Anrich Nortje, on the other hand, has been having problems with his back and hip for a long time. That also means there is no word on whether he will be able to play in the IPL, where he plays for the Delhi Capitals.

It was in November 2021 that Nortje’s last game. She played at the T20 World Cup in the UAE.

The players who are going to play in the IPL will fly to India to play in the tournament, which starts on March 26.

Players can’t be denied the chance to play in the IPL because CSA’s current agreement with the South African Cricketers’ Association (SACA). Both groups try to balance the needs of players and the national team.

When does the first test start? March 31 in Durban. The second is April 7 in Port Elizabeth.

Dean Elgar is the captain of the team. Temba Bavuma is the vice-captain. Daryn Dupavillon, Sarel Erwee, Simon Harmer, Keshav Maharaj, Wiaan Mulder, Duanne Olivier, Ryan Rickelton, Lutho Sipamla, Glenton Stuurman, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Lizaad Williams, Khaya Zondo are in the team.
