Malaysia Recorded 22,242 Covid-19 cases in a Single Day. 

Malaysia posted a new daily record of 22,242 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, August 18. According to the Health Ministry.

Noor Hisham Abdullah, Health Director-General, stated that the country’s total number of Covid-19-related infections now stands at 1,466,512.

Tan Sri Noor Hisham tweeted Wednesday that Selangor has the highest number of cases, with 6,858 new infections.

With 2,413 cases, Sabah is second, followed by Penang (1.867) and Kedah (1.5522).

Cases in other areas stood at: Kuala Lumpur (1,587), Johor (1,477), Sarawak (1,403), Kelantan (1,351), Perak (1,036), Pahang (675), Melaka (579), Negri Sembilan (577), Terengganu (487), Perlis (50), Putrajaya (25) and Labuan (five).

Dr. Noor Hisham stated that of the 13,000 deaths, only four had been fully vaccinated.

According to the health chief, 80 more deaths were caused by individuals who received one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“Our most recent clinical audit data analysis of the ‘breakthrough death’ revealed that 80 deaths had been partially vaccinated (0.3%). And four had complete vaccination (0.03%),” Dr. Noor Hisham stated in a tweet.

Meanwhile, Malaysia had suffered a total of 13,077 deaths from the pandemic as of Tuesday.
