The Mets are among the teams that have recently cut staff.
An industry source confirmed Tuesday that the team laid off 25 employees last week, most of whom worked in business operations.
In June, the team instituted salary cuts for all staff that will last the rest of the season.
The Mets previously committed to paying their minor league players until the end of August. Players who are not currently on the 40 player list will continue to earn their weekly $ 400 stipend for the rest of the summer.
