Because of Microsoft’s takeover Warcraft 4 could become a reality: Activision Blizzard’s acquisition from Microsoft was a hot subject this month. The consequences of the acquisition won’t fully understood until after the deal complete over the next year.
One previous Blizzard developer was speculative about the future of its projects and stated that Warcraft 4. might considered a “distinct possibility” due to the Microsoft acquisition.
David Fried started at Blizzard as an analyst for Quality Assurance for Warcraft 2 and Diablo 2, worked as the lead designer of campaigns for Warcraft 3 and then was a part of World of Warcraft before leaving the company.
A friendly, accessible developer, who is transparent within the world in game development. David Fried recently broadcast the following Q&A for his followers regarding the future of the company he worked for previously.
The questions he answered were speculation, but they revolved around his understanding regarding Blizzard, Microsoft, and the entire industry. With talks of revitalising previous projects. Many wondered if the new Blizzard would create something entirely new from Warcraft, its original fantasy-based franchise.
Although several developers have quit Blizzard in the past, some of the developers responsible for developing Warcraft 3 are in place. Including Samwise Didier, Senior Art Director at Blizzard.
As per Fried, Didier would almost likely be interested in helping create Warcraft 4. If given a chance. That possibility could come once the acquisition has completed.

Microsoft’s takeover Warcraft 4 could become a reality
Fried said he’d be back on the subject in a flash should Didier ask him to do so and was hopeful that Chris Metzen, the famous creator of Warcraft, would be the same.
He talked about various other Blizzard projects during the Q&A session and speculated on their plans. Fried believes that Warcraft 3 Reforged- the original remake of the RTS- will get an opportunity to deliver its promises it didn’t fulfil.
Other projects that have abandoned. Such as Heroes of the Storm to abandoned projects such as Starcraft Ghost, are more likely to be revisited soon rather than in the past. Even though Fried isn’t convinced they will.
A vocal critique for Activision Blizzard. David Fried’s optimistic outlook on the future of Blizzard was a bit odd to his and his listeners’ admission.
He believes that next year will devote to making things right. Including eliminating the office of corrupt ABK Chief Executive Officer Bobby Kotick- after which Blizzard will undergo immediate and hopefully positive changes.
As per the creator, Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard was the “best possibility”. That could have happened to the failing business.
Yet, many disappointed Blizzard supporters wonder. Whether it’s even worthwhile to keep a positive outlook on Blizzard amid its numerous controversies and lawsuits.
Fried encouraged fans not to abandon Blizzard but, expressly, because of the excellent employees still employed at the company.
While he has critical of Blizzard in the past. Fried believes there’s the chance of Blizzard making amends soon. Even if it cannot recreate the glory days that it enjoyed in its previous.
