The Odisha Government has announced the opening of the colleges and schools across the state beginning 7 February.
“After reviewing the current Covid-19 situation and loss of learning faced by students, the State government has decided to re-open schools and colleges,” declared Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, the Chief Secretary, on Thursday.
“The physical classes for students of standard 8 to 12 along with colleges, universities and other technical, professional education institutions will open from February 7,” Mahapatra stated.
“However, physical classes for the students from KG to class 7 will start from February 14,” said the official.
The state government has permitted the institutions to start their Hostels using Covid protocols set by the state government.
Mohapatra added that students would be able to select between traditional classes, online classes, and hybrid education methods during the current academic session.
“The Board Examination of Class 10 and 12 will be conducted as per the guidelines of the respective Board and Council,” the official added.
“Hospitalisation of this 3rd wave because of Omicron’s variants lower than the second wave. In addition, the daily positive rate has fallen, which means that the problem is getting under control. We have vaccinated a significant amount of children within the age range between 15 and 18 years old,” said the Chief Secretary.
“The physical classes will be conducted with strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols; all departments linked with education have been asked to issue detailed SOP for reopening the educational institutions of their departments,” the official said.
