When Housemarque’s unique bullet-hell third-party shooter nominate for Game of the Year, the company was happy. This is the time when Housemarque is thinking about what comes next. To many people’s surprise, it has now confirm that it will be a completely new game!
At the DICE Awards, Housemarque asks how it plans to stay unique as more and more studios start making games that play over time. Ilari Kuittinen, the managing director of Housemarque, said, “The jury is still out there.” Sony bought Housemarque in June 2021, so its next game will first make entirely under the Sony brand.
Kuittinen kept talking about what he thought about Housemarque. He says they were “one of the very last dinosaurs” making arcade games. He says that he worked on multiplayer games, but “we didn’t do it as well.” Kuittinen briefly mentions what will happen next with these two things in mind, so this is why.
They are still working on the next project. It’s a new I.P., and Housemarque is still working on its ideas. That’s all Kuittinen willing to say. “We’ll see what comes with that.”
