By popular vote and approval of the judges, Roshni Dada was crowned Miss Arunachal 2019. She won a new car along with some cash prizes at the modeling completion held at Nyokum Lapang.
Her family played a vital role in helping her achieve her childhood dream. They were the happiest people in the audience pool on the show.
Roshni Dada, being the winner of Miss Arunachal 2019, had the opportunity to directly enter the mega auditions of Miss India 2019. Roshni after qualifying a couple of rounds was crowned as the Femina Miss India Arunachal Pradesh 2019 during the finalization.
Even after putting in his best effort, he was unable to become a finalist on the show.
Roshni Dada takes a back seat after the defeat in the previous modeling competition. But, in 2021, she auditioned for the second season of one of the most popular modeling competitions on Indian television “MTV Supermodel of the Year”.
However, the show was judged by Malaika Arora, Milind Soman, Anusha Dandekar, and Masaba Gupta. Amid the nation’s lockdown in 2020, auditions for the show were held virtually via video calls.
Roshni Dada impressed the judges with her modeling skills and secured a position among the top 12 finalists. She wowed the judges in each and every round of the show and was the toughest competitor for her fellow contestants.
The show’s grand finale took place on October 24, 2021, where Roshni Dada was declared the winner and Eksha Kerung the first runner-up for “Season 2 of MTV’s Supermodel of the Year.”
Roshni won a trophy along with a 5 lakh rupee cash prize. Roshni, after winning the show, summed up his journey as
Winning the MTV Supermodel of the Year season 2 title is like a dream come true moment for me. Today, I am beaming with confidence while blatantly being myself and ready to take over the world. Amid all the odds and where I came from, I never thought I’d go this far, but I’ve learned to stay strong and gracefully focus on my own journey. I owe it to my amazing competitors, Anusha Ma’am, and Milind Sir’s guidance for all the creative sessions and inspirational words from Malaika Ma’am that instilled all the confidence in me. I learned something new about myself every day and that has been the most special part of this trip, it has been a pocket full of memorable experiences. The wonderful judges always unapologetically asked me to be myself, which I think is the ultimate blessing and I really owe my success to them. “
Roshni Dada became a controversy as soon as her MTV Supermodel of the Year Season 2 audition videos aired. During the introductory round of questions, when asked by Judge Anusha Dandekar how her family feels about her choosing modeling as her career and participating in the show, she replied:
Woh Humesha supports me … like everything I do, they are always there for me. But the thing is Hamari society. I would not say that… the main jis communities belong to karti hoon jahan pe itna .. matlab freedom nahi hota ladkiyo ko .. matlab, that nahi karna…. Aur smoke waha pe na proper fashion show hota hai… na proper photographs and everything, nothing, nothing there. Waha ke logo ko actually itna pat nahi hai. For my parents they are always there for me, but Hamare Jo hai, matlab, I mean society, people. It’s like they have more intellect like padhai karo, Job Karo, you are a girl that you need to please, you need to get married and take care of your family like that, you need to give birth to a male child and all that. “
Roshni affirmed that the girl in his community does not have the same privilege as the boys in the community. His statement caused a lot of controversies and his social networks were filled with hateful comments. Roshni defending himself said,
When I spoke about ‘freedom’ (women’s freedom) on the show, I meant that modeling as a career is not considered safe for a girl in Arunachal and more attention is paid to education. I never meant to say that girls in my state don’t have freedom and they can’t choose where they want to go or what they want to wear. “
She further added,
I have worked with many photographers in the state and they are excellent. What I meant to say is that there are no photographers who work as professionals. “
The Miss Arunachal Organization was also tracked down on various social media platforms to crown Roshni Dada as Miss Arunachal 2019. Roshni took to her social media to clear up all misunderstandings and posted:
The Miss Arunachal Organization is not to blame for my statements. I treat each member of the organization like family and they have always supported me. Any word that was said on the show was not to defame any individual or organization, but was just a comparison between a pageant and a modeling reality show. “
In addition to this, he said,
All Dada said on the show are his own words and opinions. It has nothing to do with the Miss Arunachal Organization, which a lot of people seem to think about and have been commenting on on social media ”.
