After he finished his training, Sameer was put in charge of the Air Intelligence Unit at the Mumbai Airport. His first job was as the Deputy Commissioner of the Unit (AIU).
People who tried to avoid paying taxes on goods and cash brought in from another country were caught by Sameer because he was on the customs team at the airport. Sameer was known for not giving anyone permission to go until they told him what they had and paid the tax on it.
Then, after he worked for the AIU, Sameer was hired as an extra SP for the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and he also became the Joint Commissioner of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) (DRI).
His team has seized drugs and other substances worth Rs. 17,000 crore since he took charge of the Narcotics Control Bureau in 2019. He was the lead officer in the investigation of the suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
He found out that the case was linked to drugs, and he was able to figure out that several big Bollywood stars were allegedly involved. People say Sameer asked Rhea Chakraborty and her brother, Showik Chakraborty, about their involvement in the “Bollywood drugs nexus.”
