Sanjay Rathod Test Covid Positive with 11 Attended in Pohradevi Function
Eleven people from the Pohradevi holy shrine of the Banjara community in Washim district, including religious leaders, who had participated in a function on Tuesday in which the Minister of Forests Sanjay Rathod appeared with thousands of his followers in violation of all Covid-19 standards, tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.
Washim’s civil surgeon Madhukar Rathod said: “11 people from the sanctuary have tested positive for Covid-19. We are tracking contacts of people from various towns who had packed the place on Tuesday. ”
After Rathod arrived at the shrine, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray took “serious knowledge” of the matter and ordered an investigation.
Rathod’s appearance at the shrine was seen as a show of force after several political leaders raised their alleged links to Pooja Chavan’s death case.
Meanwhile, at least 227 schoolchildren from an Ashram school in Washim tested positive for Covid-19.
Rathod, the civil surgeon, said, “227 children ages 14-16 and four non-teaching staff members have tested positive for Covid-19. All are asymptomatic. But we have placed a team of health workers in the school to attend to any need ”.
On Wednesday, 144 people who had attended a social program in Zadgaon village in Buldhana district last week tested positive during a medical check-up camp. The entire town has been declared a containment zone.
