Schools to reopen soon

In light of declining numbers of new cases, the Union Health Ministry will likely issue an advisory to states and UTs urging them to reopen schools that conform to Covid norms.

Manish Sisodia (Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi), who holds the Education portfolio, said Wednesday that a generation will be left behind if schools are not opened now and that too much caution is directly harming children.

A delegation of parents submitted a memorandum, signed by over 1,600 parents, for the reopening school in the capital on Wednesday.

Ninety-five percent of the eligible population have received their first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

According to the Health Ministry report, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 164.35 million.

More than 49 lakh doses were administered between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Since the start of the drive, more than 1 million precaution doses have been given to identified categories.
