The BJP’s Surat unit is preparing for a big welcome for the newly appointed president of the state unit CR Patil on Friday when he returns home. Three-time Navsari MP, Patil, succeeded Jitu Vaghani, becoming a leader of South Gujarat to be elevated to the position after 29 years.
On Thursday, Patil met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and received his blessings. He later shared a Facebook post with photos from the meeting where he mentioned that he would work hard to strengthen the party’s organization.
After the meeting, the Prime Minister tweeted: “I met @ BJP4Gujarat President Shri @CRPaatil Ji. Coming from a humble background, he rose in rank in the Party and distinguished himself as an outstanding Karyakarta. His work as MP has also been appreciated. I am confident that under your leadership the Gujarat BJP will scale new heights (sic). ”

On Wednesday, Patil met with veteran BJP leader and former Prime Minister Keshubhai Patel at his residence in Gandhinagar. Patel was the first president of the party in 1980.
Addressing the partygoers at Shree Kamalam headquarters after meeting with Patel, Patil emphasized the use of social media and urged the partygoers to reap their benefits. “Technology has shown good results with less effort … Let’s try to create an environment where we can benefit from these highs … For the past 10 years, PM Modi has been emphasizing the use of social media. ., “he said, adding that BJP members should turn problems into opportunities.
The Surat BJP unit is planning a car rally in the city on Friday afternoon near the Surat airport. A press release issued by Surat City BJP President Nitin Bhajiyawala stated that the rally was reduced to a welcoming rally due to Covid-19.
The rally will start from Magdalla Chowky and will pass through Y Junction, Kargil Chowk, Sargam Shopping Center, Diwali Baug at Athwagate, Majurage, Bhatar main road, Althan Tenement, Pandesara Piyush Point and Udhna crossroads, to reach BJP headquarters before culminating at the Paatil Office in Ambanagar at Sosyo Circle.
The statement added that those traveling in the car should not leave. They must wear a mask and maintain social distance.
Meanwhile, the senior congressional leader and former chairman of the Gujarat Pradesh Congressional Committee, Arjun Modhwadia, lashed out at the BJP for the appointment of CR Patil as its head of state, claiming that someone who has faced “multiple criminal cases “in the past he was not suitable for the position.
