Team 17 has cancelled the Worms NFT project: Yesterday, the publisher Team17 announced the launch of an NFT project based upon Worms. Worms series. It would be in collaboration together with the Reality Gaming Group.

 The reaction was not favorable to this announcement since NFTs have also been the focus of debate. This is why Team17 has decided to cancel its Worms NFT project.

Video Games Studios Pressure Team17 to Cancel Worms NFTs

In reaction to Team17’s announcement, numerous video game companies apologized for this NFT project. 

Angry Crab Games, developer of Going Under, released a statement saying that it will not be working with Team17 in the future on games. Playtonic Games, the developer of Yooka-Lee, was adamant about NFTs and pledged not to develop their own. 

Officially, the A Hat in Time Twitter account even got involved in the issue.

Due to the adverse reaction, Team17 has canceled the NFT initiative and issued a statement outlining the reasons.

 The company stated, “We have listened to our Teamsters as well as our development partners and the communities of our games and the issues they’ve raised and we’ve taken the decision to withdraw away from NFT area.”

This is only one of the recent NFT announcements made in the games industry. Some companies like Konami and Ubisoft have both released NFTs. A Ubisoft executive recently stood up for NFTs despite their not triumphant so far.
