UP STF arrested 2 PFI men who planned to carry out multiple attacks.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested on Tuesday two suspected members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) who were planning to carry out multiple explosions across India on the occasion of Vasant Panchami.
The STF has also recovered a large quantity of high-quality explosives, detonators and weapons from the two men. Some incriminating documents were also seized from them, Prashant Kumar, UP ADG, Law and Order told reporters during a press conference in Lucknow on Tuesday night.
The detainees have been identified as Badruddin, a resident of Pathanamthitta in Kerala and Firoz Khan who belongs to Kozhikode al Calicut, Kerala.
According to initial investigations, they had planned to attack in various places in Uttar Pradesh. Various senior officials from a prominent Hindu organization were also on his target list.

UP STF also recovered a large quantity of high-quality explosives from the two PFI men.
The two men were originally due to arrive in UP by train on February 11, but they changed their plan.
Up to 123 PFI members have been arrested in the last year. Meanwhile, a state high alert was issued for February 17, which is the day of the establishment of PFI.
