Tottenham embarrassed by the humble Mura

Tottenham embarrassed by the humble Mura.

Antonio Conte could only watch in horror as Tottenham suffered a surprising 2-1 loss to the little-known Mura.

When the Tottenham players arrived in Slovenia, they could have been forgiven for being a bit relaxed about their next UEFA Conference League match against Mura.

Mura is a team based in a small town in Slovenia and has a population of 11,000. The club didn’t even exist ten years ago. They entered the competition as the lowest-ranked team in the tournament, so it was expected that they would be considered the proverbial spankings.

However, little did Tottenham know that they would face the fight of their lives when the players entered Fazanerija Stadium, whose seating arrangement would easily be absorbed by Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Antonio Conte’s men were reduced to ten men after Ryan Sessegnon was expelled in half an hour.

Tomi Horvat had given his team a surprising advantage, but Harry Kane managed to equalize a few minutes later. Even with one man down, Tottenham was supposed to find a way to get all three points.

However, Amadej Marosa annotated in injury time to give Mura a historic victory over a team that entered the Conference League as a favorite and now has everything to do in their last group game of the competition, where they will face Stade Rennais, which is definitely not a scapegoat.

The game was an opportunity for many players to impress Antonio Conte, especially Delle Alli. However, the English midfielder had another bad start and was deservedly hooked in the 52nd minute.

After seeing a greatly changed lineup, Conte brought in his best players in the second period, but it was a bit late and the home team simply wanted three points more than the visitors.

Tottenham will travel to Burnley for their next match, where Conte will definitely look to ensure he doesn’t have to witness similar embarrassment.
