U23 World Wrestling LIVE – Shivani Pawar wins silver: Indian fighter Shivani Pawar lost the U23 World Cup final to Emily Shilson of the USA She had an early lead but was pinned down by the junior world champion in the 50kg division fight in Belgrade on Thursday. Wilson, 20, joined a small group of fighters who have won two world titles in the same year. He previously won a gold at the World Junior Championships. On the other hand, by finishing second, Pawar became the seventh Indian to win a silver at the U23 World Cup after Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia.

“I am very happy,” said the Indian after winning the historic Silver. ‘I will try to improve the performance in the future and try to make it a gold for India’, Shivani said

U23 World Wrestling LIVE – Shivani Pawar wins silver: To say that Shilson is good is an understatement. On Wednesday, the 20-year-old joined a small group of fighters who have won two world titles in the same year.

The fighter from the United States made the trip to Ufa, Russia in August for the junior world championship and dominated her path to the title, somewhat similar to what we saw in Belgrade. In his four games, Shilson never found himself in trouble and won his bouts 10-0, by knockdown, defective injury, and knockdown.

“Two years ago I did not win a medal in this tournament and now I feel amazing”, Shilson said.

In 2019, she finished eleventh, but now she made no mistakes, even after a frantic start to the final against Shivani PAWAR (IND).

Shilson tried to attack early in the first with one leg, but was countered by his Indian opponent. While trailing 2-0, he hit a headlock on the far side and pinned Pawar less than 90 seconds into the opening frame.

Being one of the most active fighters in the United States, Shilson was aware of the situation that the Indian could have put her.

“I knew she was going to be like this, I just wanted to stir,” Shilson said. “I had to get back up, refocus and get to where I wanted to be, and then I was able to take what she was giving me.”

Shilson will be one of the fighters to watch out for as the Paris Olympics draw near and she believes she is on the right track in her career.

“In Ufa, I was one of the oldest fighters there, and here I’m probably on the younger side,” she said. “Being able to move from juniors to another level, U23 is reassuring that I am on the right track. “
