University of Dayton student dies during Astroworld Festival.
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The University of Dayton confirmed that a student passed away while attending the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas.
According to a statement from Shawn Robinson, UD’s associate director of news and communications, Franco Patiño was killed at the concert in Houston on Friday, November 5.
Patiño was a 21-year-old mechanical engineering technology student from Naperville, Illinois. He was a member of Alpha Psi Lambda, a Hispanic Interest Fraternity and a member of the UD Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. He worked in a cooperative engineering program in Mason, Ohio.
UD administrators will post information about a funeral and a funeral on the Patiño campus when details become available.
Another UD student also passed away this week in a separate incident. Parker Spindle passed away on Wednesday, November 3. The spindle was a senior at the Grand Rapids, Michigan College of Arts and Sciences. The spindle will be remembered on the campus of the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception on Monday, November 8 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Campus ministers, the Dean’s Office for Students, Housing and Residence Living, and counseling staff will be available to students.
