On Tuesday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will announce the deadline to file
nominations in the 3rd phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022.
The total number of assemblies in 16 districts will be included during the final stage of the
elections in the state ruled by the BJP.
According to the Chief Election Officer (CEO) Ajay Kumar Shukla, the notice of the 3rd
phase of the election will be announced by 1100 hours.
On Monday, the examination of nominations was conducted in the first phase of the polls.
Due to Covid-19, the apex poll body has extended the option of online registration to
applicants through its online portal, namely uvidha.eci.gov.in.
In light of the provisions of Covid-19, no candidate will be permitted to conduct a parade
during the filing of the nomination.
A total of 58 seats in the assembly are scheduled to go to the polls in the first phase in 11
districts in western UP.
Eight15 nominees have registered their candidatures for this phase.
The nomination process for the second phase started on January 21.
Until today, there are only 10 applicants who have completed their nomination papers.
The second phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven steps for 403 assembly
seats from the 10th of February and 7th March, and final results are expected to be
announced on the 10th of March.
The first phase of the polling will take place on February 10; the filing of nominations began
on January 14, which was completed on January 21.
The scrutiny started was completed on January 24, and the final date to withdraw is the
27th of January.
The second stage of, which is will be held on February 14th. The filing of nominations
started on January 21.
The last day for nominations to be filed was January 28. and scrutinization beginning on
January 29. The final date to withdraw will be January 31.
Fifty-five assembly segments will vote in the second round, covering nine districts in
Saharanpur, Bijnor, Amroha, Sambhal, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Badaun, and
Shahjahanpur.
The third stage of polling is scheduled for February 20. The filing of nominations begins on
January 25, and the deadline for nominations filing is February 1; scrutinization will start
on February 2.
Candidates can withdraw their candidature up to February 4.
The total number of assemblies will be voting in the third election phase in 16 districts,
including Kasganj, Hathras, Firozabad, Etah, Mainpuri, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Etawah,
Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur.
The 2017 elections saw BJP win, with 50 seats in the 59 assembly segments that will vote
at the end of the phase.
SP could secure 7 seats. BSP, as well as Congress, won one seat.
More than 120 companies from Central Forces have reached UP to ensure law and order in
the election.
The 4th phase of polling is scheduled for February 23. The filing of nominations begins
January 27, the final date to file nominating documents is February 3, scrutinization is
February 4, and the deadline to withdraw is February 7.
Sixty assembly segments from the Awadh region will vote during this phase, covering nine
districts that include Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Lucknow, Unnao, Rae Bareli,
Fatehpur, and Banda.
For the 5th phase of polling scheduled for February 27, the filing of nominations will begin
on February 1.
The last date to submit nominees will be February 8, with scrutinization being February 9,
and the final date to withdraw is February 11.
Sixty Assembly seats will go to elections during the 5th phase, covering 11 districts
including Shravasti, Bahraich, Barabanki, Gonda, Ayodhya, Amethi, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh,
Kaushambi, Chitrakoot, and Prayagraj. The 6th phase of voting will begin on March 3rd.
The filing of nominations begins on February 4.
The last date for nominations to be filed was February 11. scrutinization is due on February
14, and the deadline for withdrawing to withdraw nominations is on February 14.
In the sixth stage, 57 assembly segments will be going to elections in 10 districts, including
Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar
Nagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, and Ballia. In the seventh and final phase of the election,
scheduled to take place on March 7, the filing of nominations begins February 10, and the
last date for nominations to be filed was February 17.
And scrutinization of nominations will start on February 18 and the deadline to withdraw
nominations is February 21.
Some Assembly seats will go to elections in 10 districts, including Azamgarh Mau, Ghazipur,
Jaunpur, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Ghazipur, Chandauli, and Sonbhadra.
The Election Commission had on Saturday extended the prohibition on physical rallies and
roadshows until the 31st of January in the five states that are polling but permitted public
gatherings for up to 500 participants in the states that are going to the polls in the initial
two phases.
It also relaxed door-to-door campaign rules.
In a statement, the agency stated that the maximum of five individuals to conduct a door-
to-door campaign was now raised to 10, excluding security personnel.
Video vans for advertising have also been allowed in designated open spaces subject to
COVID-19 limits.
It warned that the events of the video vans should not cause discomfort to the public and
shouldn’t be an obstacle to traffic circulation.
It is the duty of the election officer for the district concerned to find and inform the venues
before the event.
