Wordle Fan Solves Puzzles Using 3D Printer: Developed by software engineer Josh Wardle, Wordle is a simple word-guessing game that first came out in November 2021. It has since become so popular that the New York Times bought it in February 2022.
When you have a lot of words to choose from, it can be hard to find the answer with just six guesses. Reddit user u/iamflimflam used a 3D printer and a Raspberry Pi board to make the game easier.
An example of how a 3D printer works show in a forty-five-second video posted to the 3D printing subreddit. The video shows the creation slowly working out a Wordle solution, starting with “raise” and ending with “tacit.”
While the mechanical part is excellent, many thought Wordle was pretentious because the word they came up with was so obscure that many thought they were snobbish.
The worlds of 3D printing and video games have met before. In 2021, a Reddit user made a 3D-printed sculpture of the Divine Beast Vah Ruta from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Recently, a fan of the game Valve made a life-sized Portal gun. u/iamflimflam, on the other hand, has a lot of experience with technology. They explained how their homemade Wordle solver works below their post.
The post talks about some of the big problems to solve to get the machine to work. First, it had to be able to see the screen of the phone and the bed of the printer.
This is how it worked. Then, it had to read the colored Wordle results to use for the next guess. Finally, the process seems to work very well, though u/iamflimflam said that it has fallen over a few times because of a problem with the camera’s white balance.
Still, it’s a lot faster than looking up lists of five-letter words on the Internet, which many Wordle players have been doing recently. That’s what a lot of them have been doing.
It looks like many people like the post. But some people were more interested in the long-running tradition of getting weird machines to play Doom.
A Reddit user was right to point out that if you automate your work. You’ll have more time to do other things, like goof off. But if you automate having fun, there’s nothing else to do.
