Aligarh man shot dead in traffic dispute.
A property trader in Aligarh shot dead a cattle trader, who was on a road with his son, during a traffic discussion on Friday night, police said.
According to the police, the vehicles of the victim, Kamal Khan, and the defendant, Vineet Kumar, had come face to face on Marris Street. Kumar, suspected of being drunk, refused to move. As the discussion escalated, Kumar drew his licensed weapon and shot Khan in front of his son.
Khan died on the way to a hospital, police said.
“We received information that there had been a shooting on Marris Road. The victim had been shot and killed in a road rage incident. The defendant was identified and arrested within 24 hours. Family members had previously suspected someone else, but the case was resolved in time. The cremation took place after a brief protest, ”said an official from the Civil Lines Police Station.
Police officers said Kumar, a property dealer, had licensed the gun ten years ago. He was often shot during wedding ceremonies, police said.
The victim’s family filed an FIR against Khan’s wife and other relatives, suspecting that the murder could have been revenge after a marriage dispute.
Hundreds of people gathered in the victim’s village on Saturday seeking justice, police said. The cremation took place after protesters stopped the process twice.
