She had worked as an interior designer, fashion designer, chef, architect, and server at a New York café before beginning her acting career.
Athiya made her Bollywood debut in the Salman Khan-produced romantic action movie “Hero” (2015). Salman Khan gave her the role in the film “Hero” when his sister Alvira saw Athiya working out at Yasmin Karachiwala’s gym.
Alvira was unaware that Athiya was the daughter of Suniel Shetty.
She appeared in the 2018 song “Tere Naal Nachna” for the movie Nawabzaade, which was written, produced, and performed by Badshah.
