BJP leader Uma Bharti appeared in person on Thursday before a special court conducting a trial in the Babri Mosque demolition case in 1992.
The CBI special court is currently recording the statements of 32 defendants under section 313 of CrPC (power of the court to examine the accused), a stage of the trial that follows the examination of prosecution witnesses.
The 61-year-old saffron-clad BJP leader is the nineteenth accused of deposing in court in the case of more than 27 years.
Thirteen other suspected defendants, including former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and top BJP leaders M Joshi and Kalyan Singh, have yet to be examined at this stage.

His lawyers have indicated to the CBI court that they prefer to appear by videoconference.
The mosque in Ayodhya was demolished in December 1992 by ‘kar sevaks’, who claimed that an old Ram temple had been on the same site.
The CBI court is holding daily hearings to complete the trial before August 31, as indicated by the Supreme Court.
