On Saturday, the BJP again accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of violating the Model Code of Conduct and complained to the Electoral Commission (EC).
In a letter to Aariz Aftab, the state’s electoral director, the BJP accused Banerjee of delivering a “very provocative”, community and “inciting hatred” speech in Kulpi, in the South 24 Parganas district. The prime minister allegedly said: “Don’t believe in money, take their money, spend it but don’t give them a vote. Why will we listen to the speech of such a gundabaaz? [goons] and dangabaaz [rioters]? ”
