Shad Gregory Moss, best known as Bow Wow, is an Ohio-born American rapper, actor, and television personality. At the age of 13, he published his debut album, Beware of Dog, as Lil’ Bow Wow, followed by Doggy Bag in 2001.

Bow Wow released his third album Unleashed in 2003, the first after deleting the “Lil'” from his stage name.

Early Life

Shad Gregory Moss was born in Columbus, Ohio, on March 9, 1987.
Shad was reared in Reynoldsburg, and his father, Alfonso Preston Moss, abandoned the family after his birth.

Moss was reared by his mother, Teresa Rena Caldwell, stepfather Rodney Caldwell, and stepsisters Erica and Jasarah.

His mother encouraged his musical interests and began taking him to talent shows in his hometown when he was five years old.

Career

In 2000, Lil Bow Wow released his first album, “Beware of Dog,” and it quickly became a huge smash, selling more than 3 million copies by the end of 2009.

The album included popular songs, including “Bounce With Me,” “Ghetto Girls,” and “Puppy Love,” with R&B group Xscape.

He launched his second album, “Doggy Bag,” in 2002 after the success of his first, and it went on to sell more than 1.1 copies in the US.

Hit songs including “Thank You” and “Take Ya Home” were included on the album, along with his tune “Basketball,” which was used on the soundtrack of his movie “Like Mike.”

In 2005, he released his fourth album, “Wanted,” which was certified Platinum.

His talent as a rapper was shown by the top spots on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks and Billboard 200 for the songs “Let Me Hold You” with Omarion and “Like You” with his ex-girlfriend Ciara. These singles sold close to 1 million copies in the US.

In 2010, he also released a compilation CD named “The Very Best of Bow Wow.” All of them did rather well, and he became a well-known rap musician.
