Carlos Alcaraz win Madrid Open title beating Zverev.
After overcoming reigning winner Alexander Zverev 6-3 6-1 in front of his home fans on Sunday, Spanish youngster Carlos Alcaraz won his second ATP Masters 1000 championship at the Madrid Open.
During his run in the claycourt championship, Alcaraz upset 21-time major winner Rafa Nadal and world number one Novak Djokovic before cruising past world number three Zverev in the final.
The 19-year-old became the youngest player to beat three top-five players in the same tournament since the ATP Tour began in 1990.
“It feels fantastic to defeat these guys. First, to beat two of the greatest players in history, followed by world number three Zverev.

He’s a tremendous player, “Alcaraz, who had no break point against the German, stated so.
“This has been the finest week of my life. I’m 19 years old, which I believe is crucial for being able to play several lengthy and difficult matches in succession. Physically, I’m in terrific shape.”
Alcaraz, who won his first Masters 1000 title in Miami last month, broke Zverev to love for a 4-2 lead before finishing out the set on his own serve.
In the second game, the home favorite broke to love for a 2-1 lead as Zverev became irritated with his inability to stop Alcaraz.
With the crowd behind him, Alcaraz found the double break at 4-1 and won the next two games to finish the match in under an hour.
With his diversity of strokes and aggressive hitting, the Spaniard brought the Manolo Santana Stadium audience to their feet for his eighth consecutive top-10 finish and tour-leading the fourth triumph of the year.
Alcaraz, who has ranked 120 in the world a year ago, will be ranked no. 6 in the new rankings on Monday, a career-high.
“Carlitos deserves congratulations. You are now the top player on the planet, “Zverev explained.
“It’s fantastic for tennis that we have such a young superstar who will win so many Grand Slams, be world number one, and I believe will win this event many more times.”
