Gujarat Congress working president Hardik Patel has warned the Gujarat government to prepare for unrest across the state if a decision is taken to withdraw criminal cases pending on behalf of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti members during the 2015 Patidar reservation protests.
“If there isn’t any intervention by the government (on the withdrawal of criminal cases filed on behalf of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti members during the 2015 Patidar reservation protests) before March 23, a nationwide protest will be organized,” Patel said while hosting a press conference Monday.

At the press conference, Patel also stated that the youngsters would protest outside the homes of Patidar MLAs and MPs from the community of the BJP if they didn’t accept the call to drop criminal cases.
Patel said that the Gujarat state government for “misleading and deceiving” community members by making false assurances of dropping the criminal charges against young Patidars.
Hardik Patel emerged as the leading agitator for reservation for the Patidars in Gujarat in 2015.
In response to the demands of Patel, BJP Gujarat co-spokesperson Dr. Rutvij Patel declared in a video message: “Hardik Patel and the Congress party have lost ground in the political arena and have nothing with which to argue. It’s a political move that has been featured in the media. The Patidar community strongly supports the BJP. We have taken away more than 80 percent of cases, and we have a good idea of all the cases that remain.”
