Chanda Kochhar bail, ICICI Bank Videocon loan case, ED probe, Mumbai news, Indian express news

A SPECIAL court, which granted bail to former ICICI Bank CEO and CEO Chanda Kochhar, on Friday, said there is no need to send a woman, who has been granted by Padma Bhushan and is a resident permanent from the city, to jail.

Kochhar has been named defendant in the prosecution’s complaint filed by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in the alleged ICICI Bank-Videocon loan case. She had not been arrested by the emergency department during the investigation. According to the procedure, she was cited by the court after the agency filed the prosecution’s complaint (record of charges) against her. Kochhar then appeared in court and submitted a formal request for bail through his lawyer Vijay Aggarwal.

The ED objected to the statement but left it to the order of the court. Aggarwal in her guilty plea had said that keeping her in custody is not a requirement as she is a permanent resident of the city, is a respectable Padma Bhushan awarded citizen and is ready to fulfill all conditions.

“According to the instructions of the higher court, the applicant was protected (from arrest) Therefore, the question of sending the applicant / defendant back to jail, who is a lady and received the third civil honor of India: Padma Bhushan, permanent resident of Mumbai residing with his family members and deep roots in society, will not arise. The issue of flight can be resolved by ordering the applicant / defendant to hand over the passport to the defendant / Directorate of Execution and not to leave India without the prior permission of this court will suffice for the purposes of justice, ”the detailed order of the court was made available on Saturday. saying.

Kochhar’s husband, Deepak, was arrested in September and remains in jail.
