Droupadi Murmu’s Bengal Visit Cancelled Due To National Mourning For Shinzo Abe

Following the declaration of a day of national mourning in honour of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu’s planned Saturday travel to Kolkata to meet with West Bengal BJP parliamentarians has been postponed.

Ms Murmu has been travelling to several states to solicit support from the legislators ahead of the presidential election on July 18.

“Shinzo Abe, the former prime minister of Japan, will be remembered on July 9 with a day of national mourning. As a result, Draupadi Murmu, the NDA’s presidential candidate, has canceled all of her events for July 9, 2022 “BJP of Bengal said in a statement.

The 67-year-old Mr Abe, Japan’s longest-serving prime minister, was killed earlier in the day while campaigning for his party in Nara, a town in western Japan.

MS Murmu will be in New Delhi on Saturday, according to a top BJP official.

He stated “would postpone Murmu’s trip to Kolkata later.”

She was supposed to meet BJP MPs and MLAs on Saturday afternoon at a hotel in Kolkata’s New Town neighbourhood.
